Ann (Nantus) McKita, 84, of Charleroi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born in Stockdale on Oct. 25, 1924, a daughter of the late George and Susanna (Leheney) Nantus. Ann was a loving and devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking and having large family get-togethers. She found comfort and joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Richard J. McKita, on Dec. 1, 2008; four brothers, George, John, Michael and Andrew Nantus; and two sisters, Mary Kielback and Helen Buffa. Survivors include one son, Richard McKita and wife Gay Lynne, of Charleroi; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and John Sanino, of Schererville, Ind., and Debbie and David Kurtis, of Monongahela; seven grandchildren, Richard and Jason McKita, Gregg McKita and wife Mishelle, Kimberly Itczak and husband Tom, Melissa Pruitt and husband Jeffrey, and Richelle and Kelly Kurtis; seven great- grandchildren, R.J., Dominic and Kelsey McKita, Lexie and Allie Itczak, and Noah and Troy Atkinson; two sisters-in-law, Marge McKita and Marie Seftas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at MELENYZER-DuBARR FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi (724-483-2231), where funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 27, at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Sedlak officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation through the funeral home.
