August "Augie" Stache

August (Augie) George Stache, 94, of Reading, formerly of Charleroi passed away on Friday, July 26, at Reading Hospital. Born June, 3, 1930, Augie was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Spisak Stache.

 A resident of Charleroi most of his life, he was a 1948 graduate of Charleroi High School. Augie grew up performing with the choir at the Lutheran Church of Charleroi where his mother served as Choir Director. He was a member of Garwood Baptist Church and was well know in the Valley for his beautiful singing voice. He performed at many local churches and nursing homes.

 Augie was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen plant where he worked as an electrician in the Instrument Shop. Earlier in his life, Augie enjoyed watching his four sons and grandchildren play sports and participate in musical activities. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Davis Stache in 2013, an infant son, Timothy in 1956, brother Joseph Stache and sister Dorothy Ervin. 

He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law: August Jr. and wife Kitty of Washington, PA, Richard and wife Priscilla of Louisville, TN, Stephen and wife Cheryl of Exeter Township, PA, and James and wife Diana of Monongahela, PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Stephen Stache,MD and wife Daniella Stache,DO, Christine Marie Stache, Jeremiah Stache,PhD and wife Erin, Koral Stache, Cassandra Rajczy,DPM and husband Robert Rajczy,DPM, Katherine Elizabeth Stache, and Karly Recio,EdD and husband Chris Recio. In addition Augie had the joy of great-grandchildren, Stephen, Anna, Julia Stache, Bailey and Regan Stache, Zsofia Rajczy and Rebecca Recio. Augie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as several in-laws.

Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, August 2nd at Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 825 Fallowfield Ave. Charleroi. A service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00AM on ­­­­Saturday, August 3rd with the Rev. Dennis Stitch presiding. Interment will follow at Charleroi Cemetery.
