Betty Sowden

Betty Sowden 85 of Roscoe died Monday March 9, 2015 at her home. Born in Allenport on June 25, 1929 a daughter of Charles and Gladys Brown Jones. Mrs. Sowden was a member of Roscoe United Methodist Church. She is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law Rev. Terry and Darlene Sowden of Glen Burnie, MD, and Randy Sowden of Roscoe, a daughter and son-in-law Cindy and William Heffernan of Harwinton, Conn., 5 grandchildren, Lynn Sowden, Rebecca Young, Michelle, Batchelder, Christina Heffernan, and Kevin Heffernan and 6 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Willis (Mike) Sowden and a brother Walter Lee Jones. Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 11, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. Additional viewing will be held on Thursday March 12, 2015 from 10am-11am at the Roscoe United Methodist Church where funeral services will follow at 11am with the Reverands Brian Carroll, Sandra Conti and Rick Bowser. Interment will follow at Howe Cemetery, Long Branch. Memorials may be made to the Roscoe United Methodist Church.
