Private services were held Friday for Brian David Dranzo, 41, of Roscoe, who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Born July 12, 1970, in Charleroi, he was the son of Carl and Rosemary Ray Dranzo. Brian attended the Roscoe United Methodist Church and was a member of American Legion Post 801, also in Roscoe. In his free time he enjoyed spending time outdoors. He liked to hunt, fish and go biking, but what he enjoyed the most and always looked forward to was going to Ohiopyle State Park with his son and daughter, Evan and Miranda. Brian proudly served his country; first in the Army and then in the Air Force. While serving on active duty in the Air Force he was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla with the 58th Fighter Squadron, Elmendorf, Alaska with the 90th Aircraft Maintenance Unit and in Langley, VA with the 27th Fighter Squadron. Brian was currently a member of the Air National Guard serving with the 171st Air Refueling Wing in Coraopolis. Some of his military decorations were the Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 2 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with 1 service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border. In addition to his parents and children, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer; a sister, Kathleen Boda and husband Kenneth, of Roscoe; a grandmother, Kathryn Dranzo; uncles, Tony Dranzo and wife, Karen, and John Tunney; an aunt, Elizabeth Ray; nieces, Madeline and Makayla Boda; a nephew, Bode Boda; and many loving cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael, on March 5, 2010; grandmother, Mary Ray; grandfather, Carl Dranzo, Sr.; uncles, Fred and Bill Ray; and aunts, Barbara Tunney and Agnes Jenkins. Full military honors were provided by the 911th Airlift Wing Honor Guard. Arrangements were handled by the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe.
