Carl A. Kronander, 62, of Monessen, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Furnier Kronander, he was born Sept. 25, 1946 in Charleroi. A graduate of California High School Class of 1964, he was a U.S. Army veteran who proudly served with Company B, 5th Signal Battalion, Fifth United States Army, during the Vietnam War. Carl worked for Jones & Laughlin Steel (LTV) in Pittsburgh as an electrician for over 37 years before his retirement in 2002. He was a past member of the American Legion and the Roscoe Gun Club. Carl is survived by his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Stacey, of Pittsburgh; one son, Shawn, of Monessen; one sister and brother-in law, Artie and John Yakubik, of Charleroi; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Linda Kronander, of Roscoe; four nephews and five nieces. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave, Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. with Pastor Randy Landman officiating. Inurnment will be on Friday, Feb. 20, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
