Carol J. Cowell, 58, of Roscoe, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Saturday, March 10, 2012, in the Victoria House, Monessen. Born Nov. 4, 1953, in North Charleroi, she was a daughter of Veronica Mislo Cowell and the late Wilfred A. Cowell. She was a member of the Roscoe Presbyterian Church, where she held the office of deacon. Carol liked to listen to all types of music, work word search puzzles and was an avid reader, especially of the Bible. For many years, she worked at the former Montgomery Wards and more recently with Lee Supply, both in Charleroi. In addition to her mother, those left to cherish the many memories of Carol are her brother, Wilfred R. "Hez" Cowell and his wife, Bonnie, of Roscoe; nieces, Haley and Molly Cowell; and many cousins and dear friends. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by a niece, Heather J. Cowell on May 14, 1981. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. with Rev. Candace Cook presiding. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. At Carol's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Roscoe Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 716, Roscoe, PA 15477.
