Catherine Michel

Catherine Hughes Michel, 100, of Rostraver Twp., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 19, 2010. Born in Lebanon, PA, on November 13, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Genevieve Schnepp Stoots. Catherine was a member of Mon Valley Community of Christ, Rostraver Grange and AARP, and the West Newton Senior Center. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Evelyn Howell of Port St. Lucie, Fla; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Lois Hughes and Carl and Carol Hughes, both of Rostraver Twp.; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren; a brother, John Michael Stoots; a sister, Dorothy Hurst; and a son-in-law, Robert McLuckie. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husbands, Elmer Hughes in 1959 and Otto Michel in 1976; daughter, Eleanor McLuckie; brothers, James, William, and Joseph Stoots; sisters, Genevieve Stoots, Elizabeth Gajdosik and Agnes Briscar; and son-in-law, Robert Howell. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in MELENYZER-DuBARR FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, (724) 483-2231. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 23, 2010, in the funeral home with Pastor Kathy Ross officiating and Elder Nancy Holliday assisting. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mon Valley Community of Christ, 500 Washington Ave., Charleroi, PA, 15022.
