Charlotte J. Shrum, 58, of North Charleroi, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Pittsburgh on May 6, 1954, she was the daughter of Alice Hill Ritenour and the late Kensey Ritenour. She was a member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 22 Auxiliary in Charleroi. Charlotte enjoyed watching the Game Show Network, playing Yahtzee and bingo, camping and watching the cardinals outside her window. She especially enjoyed family outings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. In addition to her mother, Alice, those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Donna Ziemba and husband, Michael, of Coal Center, Sarah Shrum of North Charleroi, and Elizabeth Savage of Charleroi; grandchildren, Jessica and Ryan Ziemba and Brianna Baker; great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Ziemba; brothers and sisters, Alice Glawinski and husband, Tom, of Perryopolis, Ronald Ritenour and Cathy Davis, of Allenport, Connie Santo and husband, Ronald, of Point Marion, John Ritenour and Kathy Parrett, of Belle Vernon, and Walter Ritenour and wife, Teressa, of Allenport; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her father, Kensey, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Shrum, on Feb. 22, 1994; brothers, Butch and Keith Ritenour; sister-in-law, Marcia Ritenour; special friend Jack Santo; and two nieces and a nephew. Friends will be received Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home.
