Elizabeth C. Spisak, of Roscoe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Born in West Pike Township on Jan. 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Keder Check. She was a 1938 graduate of Beallsville High School. Elizabeth was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Roscoe, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She married Andrew Spisak on June 27, 1938, and after he passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 1950, raised three daughters while working to support them. She had an abiding love of God and her fellow man. Her greatest joy was her children, who thank her for the many selfless, unsung things she did for them and the example she set through what she did for others. The memories she leaves us brighten our darkest days and illuminate our lives with a love that is eternal. We learned to become strong and firm in our beliefs and commitments because of what our mother was to each of us. There is no treasure on Earth like the gift of a Godly mother's love. Left to cherish the many memories are her daughters, Mary Ann Keener and husband, Fred, of Franklin, NC, Alice Jean Saeli and husband, Joe, of Monroeville, and Darlene Markazene and husband, Rick, of Monroeville; sister, Anna Mae Pirt, of Charleroi; grandchildren, Cindy Lea Thomas, Robert Bays, Anthony Saeli and wife, Julie, and Shelley Markazene; great-grandchildren, Brianna Bays, Sophie and Joey Saeli; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Julia Lambert, Susan Pordash and Helen Hammercheck; brothers, John and Andy Check; and great-granddaughter, Kristen Bays. Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 11, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe, and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, in The Church of Jesus Christ, Latta Ave., Roscoe, with Elder James Abbott presiding. Interment will follow in Charleroi Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Church of Jesus Christ, P.O. Box 704, Roscoe, PA 15477.
