Harry R. "Ham" McLaughlin, formerly of Roscoe, passed away on February 7, 2010, in Venice, Florida under the care of Tidewell Hospice. Mr. McLaughlin was born on October 4, 1920 in Roscoe, to James and Mary Emma McLaughlin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Josephine (Gadosy) McLaughlin who passed away March 29, 1994. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, William and Edward McLaughlin and three sisters, Mary Catherine McLaughlin, Agnes MacDonald and Mae Tonkavich. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Haines McLaughlin, two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jo and Bob Eland of Severn, Maryland and Dawn and Ed Wilson of Bentleyville, one son and daughter-in-law Robert and Teri McLaughlin of Fairmont, WV, four granddaughters, Krissy Zeigler, Kerri Walters, Melissa Curtis and Tara Curtis and two great grandchildren, Eli Walters and Madison Zeigler. He is also survived by two step children, William and wife Sharon Haines of Northport, Fla., and Cathy Johnson of Venice, Fla, three step grandchildren Brian Haines, Kelly Haines and Jason Johnson, and two step great-grandchildren Colin and Ethan Haines. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Sis McLaughlin of Bobtown, and Elizabeth Pennline of Charleroi and many special nieces and nephews. Ham was a former employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation in Allenport, where he worked for 39 years. He was a graduate of California High School and was a member of the Roscoe Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Trustee and Elder. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the North Atlantic. Ham was the past President and Commander of the Roscoe American Legion Post 801, a member of the Charleroi Veterans of Foreign Wars and President of the Roscoe Kennywood Association. He was also a member of the California Masonic Lodge and President of the Roscoe Lions Club. He was an officer and a member of the Board of Directors of the Mon Valley Community Federal Credit Union and served on the Mon Valley Sewage for Allenport Committee. A memorial service celebrating Ham's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 13, 2010 at the Roscoe Presbyterian Church, 300 Main Street, Roscoe.
