Helen Sedlak, 94, of Long Branch, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Flo's Personal Care Home in Elco. A daughter of the late Anthony and Naomi Russell, she was born March 28, 1919. A homemaker, Helen devoted her life to her family and many friends. She was a member of Howe United Methodist Church, Long Branch Grange No. 2072, Eastern Star of California and Roscoe American Legion Post No. 801. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Haschets and husband, Charles, of Collinsburg (Rostraver Township); five grandchildren, Shawn Palfrey, Dawn Futrell and husband, William, Charles Haschets III and wife, Susan, Brian Haschets and wife, Erin, and James DeZardo; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Grace Sedlak. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George; a son, Thomas; grandson, Robert DeZardo; brother, Thomas Russell; and sisters, Margaret Watkins, Etta Timlin, Sophia Wolpink and Mildred Macosta. Friends will be received 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, in the MELENYZER-DuBARR FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kent Lighthall presiding. Interment will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in Howe Cemetery, Coal Center.
