James N. 'Jim' Gazi, 76, of Elco, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, after a lengthy illness. He was born May 29, 1932, a son of the late John James and Lou Olive (Dowler) Gazi. Jim attended Roscoe United Methodist Church, retired from Corning Glass as a supervisor and served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emily (Pottios) Gazi; three children: Debi Gazi, of Glenshaw, Mark James Gazi (Annamarie), of Elco, and Leah Marie Krnjaic (Michael), of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren: Christy Mudry (Matt), of Elco, Lindsey Lawson (Richard), of Fallowfield Township, T.J. Marovich, of Glenshaw, Paige, Cassidy and Morgan Krnjaic, of Mechanicsburg; three great-grandchildren: Celeste Mudry and Ricky and Gabriella Lawson; and one sister, Nancy Koussomnbus, of Charleroi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Gazi. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the MELENYZER-DuBARR FUNERAL HOMES and CREMATION SERVICE INC., Roscoe. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 25, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Roberts of Charleroi Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. Sympathy remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association.
