John Huber, 95, of California, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, in Jefferson Hills Manor. A son of the late Robert and Margaret Cowan Huber, he was born August 29, 1914, in East Pike Run Township. Mr. Huber was a retired coalminer and mechanic from Vesta # 5 coal mine and a 43 year member of the F&AM Lodge #461 in California. In his spare time, he could often be found enjoying his favorite hobby, woodworking, in his wood shop behind his house. He is survived by two daughters, Marlene Gurr and husband Graham of Australia, and Dorothy McCrory and husband Richard of Roscoe; three granddaughters, Crystal Gurr and husband Don Lemelin of San Francisco, Kim McCrory of Seven Fields, and Mindy Thompson of Roscoe; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie (July 1987), a grandson, Brian Gurr, and two brothers. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m., Friday, in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a Masonic Service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
