Julia DiRito, 99, of Charleroi, passed away on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, in the Mon Valley Care Center. A daughter of the late Peter and Mary Kochan Sanato, she was born Jan. 27, 1913, in Roscoe, and was a member of the Holy Ghost Byzantine Church in Charleroi. She worked at Corning Glass for over 40 years and enjoyed traveling across the United States. When she was not traveling, Mrs. DiRito could be found playing bingo at various locations in the Mon Valley. Left to cherish the many memories are her two sisters, Anna Pierard, of Carroll Township, and Lorraine Santo, of Roscoe; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dominic DiRito; and her brothers, Mike, John, Andy, Frank, Joe and Albert Santo. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, where a Parastas service will be held at 7 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Holy Ghost Byzantine Church, with Father James Ragan officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
