Kathryn "Katie" Dranzo

Kathryn "Katie" Dranzo, 81, formerly of Cokeburg, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Sawka, she was born on Jan. 7, 1931, in Centerville. Mrs. Dranzo enjoyed making ceramics, attending to her flower gardens and spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons, Carl Dranzo and wife, Rosemary, of Roscoe, and Tony Dranzo and wife, Karen, of Boiling Springs, Pa.; granddaughters, Kathleen Boda and husband, Ken, of Roscoe, and Mary Kay Dranzo of Takoma Park, Md.; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Makayla, and Bode Boda and Evan and Miranda Dranzo; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dranzo Sr. on June 4, 1997; grandsons, Michael Dranzo on Mar. 5, 2010, and Brian Dranzo on Dec. 27, 2011: brothers, Pete, Frank and John Sawka; sisters, Helen Susick, Ann Pesta and Mary Stepko. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, with Pastor Brian Carroll presiding. Interment will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery.
