Lauretta Federer Blades, 90, formerly of Roscoe, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in Uniontown Hospital. A daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Margaret Chucuddy Federer, she was born Nov. 7, 1922, in Roscoe. Lauretta was a member of American Legion Post 801 Auxiliary in Roscoe and was Methodist by faith. She is survived by a son, Edward Blades and wife, Jeanne, of Olathe, Kan.; grandsons, Matthew and Benjamin Blades; a brother, Robert Federer Sr. of Cadiz, Ohio; sisters, Esther Hallam of Mt. Pleasant, and Irene Panepinto of California, Pa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen E. Blades on Sept. 17, 1981; a son, Harry Federer on May 11, 2007; an infant daughter on Nov. 2, 1954; a sister, Rose Aldous on Oct. 21, 1987; brothers, Clarence Federer on Sept. 13, 1993, and Charles Federer Jr. on Sept. 21, 2001. Friends will be received 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Brian Carroll of the Roscoe United Methodist Church presiding. Interment will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery in Perryopolis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Lauretta's honor be made to the Center in the Woods, 130 Woodland Ct., Brownsville, PA 15417.
