Lois Matafka

Lois Matafka 89 of N. Charleroi, died Sunday April 23, 2017 at her home. Born on March 19, 1928 in Freeport, PA, a daughter of the late Ralph and Leola Stover Nutt. Lois was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, Charleroi. She had a love for painting, sewing, ceramics and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Penguins.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah (Eric) Bugaile and Diane Matafka and George, a son, David (Judy) Matafka, 2 grandchildren, Carlyn (Steve) Butz and Kelsey (Jason) Sullivan,  great grandchildren Claire and Eric Butz, a brother Kaye Nutt, a sister Karen (Tom) Taylor and a sister-in-law Arlene Nutt. Also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John Matafka in 1990, a son Johnny Joe Matafka and a brother James Nutt.

Visitation will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 27, 2017 at 10:00am at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish Charleroi with Rev. Gerald Mikonis as celebrant. Interment will be private. Memorials in Lois' name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 1100 Liberty Ave Pittsburgh, PA 15222  or the Washington County Humane Society 1527 Route 136 Eighty Four, PA 15330. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi.
