Loretta Mae Volpi, 85, a life-long resident of Roscoe, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2012. Born Sept. 7, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Tyrpin Bilitski. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roscoe. Loretta worked for over 40 years at the Roscoe Post Office, many of which were as the postmaster. She loved to dance, play cards, and in her younger years, swim in the Monongahela River. She was the beloved mother of Valerie Horvath and husband, Nicholas "Dale", of New York, and James D. Volpi of Virginia; and devoted grandmother of Kimberly, Ryan, Austin, and Erika. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her seven sisters, Helen Gray, Stella Skibo, Della Foster, Jean Venaleck, Amelia Evans, Wanda Dowler, and Sara Solomon; and two brothers, Walter Bilitski and John Bilitski. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe. A memorial service for Loretta will be announced at a later date.
