Lucy Shoemaker, 92, of Stockdale, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Born July 20, 1918, in Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late Julian and Veronica Bujanowski. She was a member of the Roscoe Presbyterian Church. A life-long homemaker, Mrs. Shoemaker always enjoyed cleaning her house, sewing, cooking, and playing the piano. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Robert King of Myrtle Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Oliver E. and Rita M. Shoemaker of Peters Twp.; granddaughters, Melinda and husband Robert Murphy, Elizabeth and husband Dr. Robert Skvorak, Jessica L. and Lauren A. Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Meghan and Michael Skvorak and Matthew and Kelly Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shoemaker is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver, on Feb. 3, 2001, her brothers, Anthony, Emil, and Zenan Bujanowski, and her sisters, Freida Majoris and Julia Larmi. Friends will be received on Thursday, Sept. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Candace Cook of the Roscoe Presbyterian Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Roscoe Presbyterian Church.
