Surrounded by her loving family, Pauline P. Huber, 98, of Elco, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, in Justine's Personal Care Home. A daughter of the late Cosimo and Maria Ferrere Polizzi, she was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Roscoe. Pauline was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Roscoe, Council of Exceptional Children, American Association of University Women (California, Pa. branch), Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association and American Legion Post 801 Auxiliary. After attending the Roscoe public schools and California, Pa., High School, Pauline went to California Teachers College where she proudly received one of the first special education teaching degrees from the college. Education was extremely important in her life. Pauline had a rewarding career as a devoted teacher at Hilltop School in Jessup, Md., Washington public schools, Monongahela public schools and California, Pa., public schools. In her free time she always enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Left to cherish the wonderful memories of Pauline are her daughters, Paula Anderson and husband, James, of Washington, Pa., and Gail Abercrombie and husband, Martin, with whom she resided, of Elco; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Nancy Huber of Naperville, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Huber; son, J. William Huber; sisters, Lucretia Inserra, Virginia Sargent Janus and Mary Santariello; and brother, Frank Polizzi. Family and friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, in the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a prayer service will be held Thursday, Oct. 31 at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Zavage officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center. American Legion Post 801 Auxiliary will conduct their service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
