Russell "Russ" Protin, 58, of Stockdale went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Nov. 9, 2015. He was born in North Charleroi on May 15, 1957, the son of Louis Protin of Stroal Acres and the late Betty Galloni Protin. Russ was a retired medical technician having worked for UPMC and Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharist minister. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Friday Dinner Club, and a very active member of the church. He coached for many years for the Charleroi Midget football team. Russ was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan and loved going on cruises especially in New England. In addition to his father, he is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ted "Doc" Gialames of Dunlevy; a brother, Ronald Protin of Stroal Acres; two nephews, Ryan and Jessica Gialames of Ross Township and Brandon and Christine Gialames of Harmony, Fla.; two great-nieces, Ava and Alivia Gialames; and, lastly, his best buddy, Tedi Bear. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, in the MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Roscoe, with the Rev. George Monack officiating. Interment will follow at Charleroi Cemetery
