Samuel J. Rice

Samuel J.Rice Jr., 97, formerly of Brownsville, died Thursday November 2, 2017 at Presbyterian Senior Care Southmont. He was born on March 23, 1920 in Crow's Nest, Pa, a son of Samuel J. and Bridgette Ziomek Rice Sr..He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Charleroi and the Roscoe American Legion Post # 801. Sam was a WWII Navy veteran. He was retired from the former Sydney Oldsmobile Charleroi.

He was married for 71 years to Mary Klingovsky Rice of Brownsville. Besides his wife, he is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law Samuel and Diane Rice III of Roscoe, a daughter Mitzi Bailey of Fallowfield Twp., 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Loretta Lee Brammell in 2001, and 2 brothers, Leo and John Rice.

Visitation will be held on Sunday November 5, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 6, 2017 at 10:00am at Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi with Rev. Gerald Mikonis as celebrant. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Twp. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Roscoe American Legion Post #801.
