Stella Simon, 88, of Roscoe, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in Presbyterian Hospital. Born on February 12, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mary Keruskin. She was a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Marianna and in her earlier years, was an avid bowler. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Michael Simon, with whom she resided, and Richard Simon, and his wife, Paula, of Murrysville; grandchildren, Somer Simon Bunger and husband, Archie, Tania Tank and husband, Rodney, Marcy Schultz and husband, Jamie, and Chad and Michael Simon; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Caleb Schultz, and Dylan, Cody, and Hailey Tank; daughter-in-law, Mae Simon; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on Nov. 16, 1960; her son, Peter, on Dec. 20, 2009; a sister, Nadja Ardilino; and brothers, Alex and Peter Keruskin. Friends will be received Friday, March 11, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the MELENYZER-DuBARR FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Marianna.
