Willard C. "Goog" Fisher, 88, of Fallowfield Twp, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009. Born March 20, 1921 in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late William and Della Greene Fisher. During World War II, he proudly served in the Army Air Force and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries he received while stationed in the Aleutians Islands. After the war he went to work for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, from where he retired after 38 years of employment. Mr. Fisher was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church; involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 18 years, enjoyed gardening and tinkering with whatever he could get his hands on. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eunice; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis & Deborah Fisher of Donora; three grandchildren, Devlin, Deidre, and Della Fisher; one brother, Raymond of Charleroi; two sisters, Ethel Crawford of Fallowfield Twp, and Doris Anderson and husband Melvin of Belle Vernon; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Wood Fisher, in March 2009. Friends will be received Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of the Church with Rev. Bernard Costello officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
