William Caterini

July 13, 1932 — July 22, 2015

William Caterini 83 of Roscoe passed away Wednesday July 22, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with numerous health issues. Born July 13, 1932 in Monongahela, a son of Vito and Mary Eusanio Caterini. A member of St. Joseph RC Church, Roscoe and while wintering in Naples, FL, a member of St. Finbarr Parish. Mr. Caterini was a veteran of the Korean War having served as a CPL in the US Army. Was employed for 12 years at the Donora Plant of US Steel in the blast furnace dept until the mill's closing. He then worked until his retirement at Wheeling Pitt Steel, Allenport Plant. William enjoyed operating his small businesses which included Sunoco, Texaco and Gulf service stations. He was the former owner of the Columbus Hotel in Charleroi and the Hard Hat Bar in Stockdale. A life long member of the Knights of Columbus #956, Charleroi, the Charleroi American Legion Post #22, and Slovak Club in Roscoe. He had a passion for travel, boating and fishing, music, dancing and cooking specialty dishes. A fan of all the Pittsburgh sports teams. He sincerely loved his family and friends and helped many in need. Survived by his beloved wife of 58 years and constant caregiver, Veronica "Verne" Sliacky Caterini, 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Ron Helsel of Coal Center, Renee and Raymond McDonald of California, PA and Michele and David Kelly of Stockdale, 3 grandchildren, Nathan Deliere and fiancAC.e Dorothy Terray, Samantha and husband Wesley Matrey, and Ashley Kelly and fiancAC. Blake McDonald, a brother, Constantine Caterini of Belle Vernon and a sister Gena Caterini of Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother Edward Caterini. He will sadly be missed by his canine companion Lily. Keeping with Bill's wishes, all funeral arrangements will be private and have been entrusted to the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., Roscoe. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's RC Church of Roscoe, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Society or any No-kill animal shelter or nature conservancy.
